Abstract
In heart rate variability studies PWLL the p-Wave Locked Loop, is used to determine instantaneously the p-p time interval of the ECG. The reported version of the PWLL needs the user to operate a manual switch as to changeover from the r-r pickup to p-p determination and locking. In order to make this changeover an automatic issue this paper proposes a modification to the PWLL such that no additional operations are required for reading the p-p interval data from the PWLL. The performance of newly developed PWLL needs to be analyzed as to ascertain its parameters such as locking time, locking range and spectral response so as to optimize its use. This paper proposes also a test system incorporated with it an emulated PWLL and an analysis package. The ECG of heart patient is applied to both the real time PWLL and the emulated PWLL and the responses are compared and analyzed. The results of analysis would suggest changes in operating ranges of electron devices used in the PWLL as to yield optimal performance and results.
