Abstract
Communications analysis and simulation tools are currently required at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company to provide state-of-the-art system design capabilities. Representative systems include Military Strategic, Tactical, and Relay Satellite (MILSTAR), Space Telescope (ST), and Precision Location and Strike System (PLSS). A computer simulation language (COMSIM) has been designed specifically to provide an integrated digital communication system analysis and design capability. Primary emphasis of this paper is given to the command language and file structure of COMSIM, with examples of command language dialogue. Secondary emphasis is on the wide class of communication problems that can be treated. Software blocks that model communication system components are described with a example of an end-to-end simulation run to show system capabilities.
