Research and industrial development of telecommunications in South East Asia: Indonesian experience

This paper focuses on a discussion of research and development policies and activities in Indonesia´s telecommunications industry where P.T. Telkom (the state enterprise for domestic telecommunications) holds a leading role. This paper also discusses research and development management problems of human resources, funding and the necessity to have a long term research and development vision and mission. Finally, the paper concludes that better international cooperation is needed to improve the transfer of technology and telecommunication development in developing countries
