Abstract :
This paper presents an analysis to model the Brownian motion induced noise in MEMS varactor based RF VCOs. A noise current model is used to describe the upconversion mechanism of Brownian noise. How this model lends itself to the computation of phase noise using a nonlinear perturbation technique was shown. A behavioral model to describe the noise characteristics of MEMS varactors is also presented.
