Abstract :
The Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) is a new transport protocol featuring multi-streaming and multi-homing. Until now, there have been two approaches considered to supporting Internet mobility: Mobile IP in the network layer and SIP in the application layer. In this paper, we discuss the use of SCTP for Internet mobility support in the transport layer. We provide a framework for the use of SCTP with the ADDIP extension, termed ??mobile SCTP?? or mSCTP for short, for seamless handover and location management. Some implementation and deployment issues are also discussed in all-IP wireless mobile networks.
