Abstract :
Fieldbus systems were developed in order to overcome the very huge number of limits featured by the point-to-point links in distributed process control systems, by adopting a shared communication medium. This paper provides an analysis of the real-time behaviour of the multi-master Profibus DP network. The analysis presented represents a step toward the capability to perform a more accurate evaluation of the performance of the Profibus network.
