Abstract
The generation of a high-quality train of soliton-like pulses at a high repetition rate is demonstrated based on an active three-core nonlinear directional coupler switch. The method is founded on the round trip propagation of a dual-frequency cw signal with sinusoidal modulation through a passively mode locked fiber laser with two output channels. A finite-element algorithm, which is described in detail, was used to simulate the mode-locking action of the coupler
