Abstract :
Simulating components of hybrid and electric vehicle drivetrains present new challenges for development processes and tools. This paper describes a Model Based Design (MBD) approach for these particular vehicle applications. Advantages of this approach are reduction of development time and cost, faster and easier testing, reduction of failures, etc. More in detail, the following paragraphs deal with the real-time system modeling and virtual prototyping, the different validation stages of a component development process and the corresponding experimental setup to perform real-time tests. Finally, detailed results are shown for a Model-in-the-loop (MiL) and a Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation.
