Abstract :
Negative-index (or left-handed) metamaterials with simultaneously negative real parts of dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability have recently been realized experimentally for microwaves, and it was suggested that similar engineered nano-structured materials can be possible to fabricate at the optical wavelengths. In this paper, it is reported on studies of the wave transmission and reflection by a one-dimensional periodic structure created by negative-index material slabs
