Abstract
The introduction of infrastructural heterogeneity is generally perceived as a convenient solution to extend the coverage and the capacity of current wireless networks. An accurate assessment of the advantages and costs of such introduction, however, depends on the availability of adequate simulative models to characterize the network control strategies that must support it. This translates in the need for models that can faithfully portray the coupling between the infrastructure and the environment within which this is deployed. The contribution focuses on the analysis of the requirements that a pedestrian mobility model must satisfy, in order to qualify as a convenient solution for simulative analyses of the type of techniques and networks under study, and shows how to modify a form of the random way-point mobility model, operating over space graphs, to fulfil such requirements.
