Abstract :
The scientific field of mobility management receives greater attention as traffic congestion and its severe effects cannot be dealt in an effective way. This mainly occurs in urban areas. How are these issues handled in regions, mainly touristic, where the seasonal variations of transport demand need a different approach? The DELTA project addresses the problems and needs of regions experiencing seasonal traffic peaks. The aim of this paper is to present the core product of the project; a Decision Support Instrument (DSI), the aim of which is to assist local authorities and policy makers of these regions in the selection and further implementation of the most appropriate, in each case, mobility schemes in order to manage this demand in a sustainable way.
