Abstract
This article presents an adaptive beamformer for wideband smart antennas, capable of steering the main beam and nulls in azimuth in a noisy environment, by means of processing the signal only in the space domain, avoiding, in this way, tape-delay lines and frequency filters. This is known as fully spatial signal processing in which a two-dimensional antenna array operates as a spatial filter, processing the received signals with only weighting schemes. Earlier weighting schemes algorithms are not able to work properly in a noisy environment. In previous work we proposed a novel beamforming algorithm which employs a second order Kalman filter to efficiently synthesize the radiation patterns in a noisy environment; the algorithm was proven to work with up to three interference signals. In this work, the results obtained taking into account up to nine interference signals are presented.
