Abstract :
One of the most important steps in the design of a new metallic gas pipeline, which will have to share the same distribution corridor with an existing high voltage overhead power line, is to determine the proper right-of-way in order to reduce construction cost and to minimize the level of A.C. currents and voltages induced in the pipeline due to inductive, conductive and capacitive couplings. Therefore, a genetic algorithm based pipeline right-of-way optimization tool box, has been implemented in the InterfStud, electromagnetic interference analysis software, developed by the authors.
