Abstract :
Laser cleaning basically is a phase separation process driven by laser radiation. The conservation of biogenetic fibrous substrates such as e.g. paper or silk textiles represent a delicate challenge to modern laser cleaning technology. It is motivated by the need for the preservation of the human cultural and technological heritage. The fundamental understanding of the involved processes on fibrous substrates is still rudimentary and is discussed in analogy to first models of laser-induced particle separation from well-defined flat inorganic surfaces
