Abstract :
For a long time it has been accepted that conventional examinations do not assess all the kinds of learning in students that their teachers or their future employers hope to find, but it has not been easy to establish what would be better. This paper proposes ways of assessing students in a ways which more closely match normal specified learning goals. The paper discusses the assessment of a student´s knowledge, measurable skills, complex skills, attitudes and values, understanding, and know-how. The paper also discusses continuous assessment
