Abstract :
Laboratory simulation of the oceanic tides is a basic method for ocean research. And through the simulated tides generated by the tailgate control system the characteristics of the tidal level can be studied effectively. In this paper, a tailgate control algorithm is proposed, which consists of two parts: adaptive proportional integral differential control algorithm and nonlinear correction of the water level. This algorithm is applied in a tidal model of the Yangtze River Estuary to simulate a forty-eight-hour irregular tide, with a water level variation from twenty cm to forty cm. The experimental results show that the error of tide level is within two percent, verifying that this method is effective with high precision and has extensive application value.
