Abstract :
A printed planar helix with straight-edge connections has been simulated with a sheet electron beam, which has an elliptical cross-section and is centered in the planar helix. The amplification of the input signal as well as the mode of propagation has been examined. A gain of 15 dB at 4.75 GHz is observed for a beam current of 32 mA.
