Abstract :
Based on 50 cases of township government performance evaluation indicators from the Internet, this article attempts to assess the township government performance evaluation practice in China. Through content analysis, the author generalizes structural features of the township government performance evaluation and points out the problems. Analytical results show that current indicators are mostly static and result-oriented. To conclude, the indicators interpretation and calculation methods need to be standardized. Furthermore, government performance evaluation indicators should be changed from ratios into model indicators in order to evaluate government development capacity. Both of results-oriented and prediction-oriented evaluation should be taken into account to measure government performance in the future.
