Abstract :
New advanced techniques must be developed to support the growth of IPTV services and to boost quality delivered to the consumers. Optimization technique is proposed for the way users access video content delivered via wide area networks. The perceived quality of service will increase because the user accesses video content temporarily stored in nearby geographic locations. Temporary storage for content in network nodes (routers, servers and other) is performed in a transparent way for both user and provider of video. The network can decide to store content for later use even in the intelligent devices (Home Box - HB) used by consumers if the hardware allows it.
