Abstract :
The construction of efficient filter bank algorithms is considered. It is shown that a proper operation grouping of a block-filtering algorithm is of great importance when its efficient use in a filter bank is analysed. Then, the construction of efficient algorithms for general and linear-phase filter banks having short polyphase filters is addressed. A set of efficient algorithms for short polyphase filters is provided, and rules for their construction described. It is also shown how to derive efficient algorithms in the case when filter bank filters have different lengths. The algorithms require less multiplications and additions than the direct filter bank realization, and are relatively simple to implement
