Abstract :
Today´s wireless access networks have begun the transition to data-oriented services including broadband internet access, video conferencing, e-mail and gaming. The market demands higher and higher data-rates and larger mobility than ever before. Basically, the necessity for connectivity anywhere and anytime is becoming a must for many users. In this paper it will be emphasized the way a typical user (browsing the web, checking his e-mail or making a VoIP phone call) stays connected using Wi-Fi and UMTS during a daily trip through the center of Romania´s largest city: Bucharest.
