Abstract :
This paper deals with multistage production systems. Using operational research tools, maximal production rates are balanced in order to reduce work in process inventories. The model analysis enables us to construct a relevant multilayer hierarchy for complex large scale systems. The proposed hierarchical approach depends on system complexity. It is based on the distribution of resource availabilities and takes benefits from components´ similarities
