Abstract :
A software tool, called Petri Net Synthesis Tool (PNST), has been developed for synthesizing Petri nets and for modeling and control of automated manufacturing systems. PNST is designed to be generic enough so that it can be applied to different types of Petri net synthesis methods. Before the development of this tool, there has not been any such attempt that deals with more than one specific synthesis technique. To demonstrate the applications of PNST in automated manufacturing systems, two synthesis methods are used by active researchers in this held as test cases and apply them to two manufacturing examples respectively
