Abstract
Time-invariant digital filtering is a simple and powerful tool because addition and composition of filters give filters. Moreover, the discrete Fourier transform of the impulse response provides a representation which expresses composition of filters as a multiplication of their representations. This property is usually used for filter design. A recent multiresonant interpretation of two-channel filter banks is used to provide a framework for developing similar powerful tools for subband processing. A structure and a modular implementation of perfect reconstruction FIR two-channel filter banks with linear phase are described
