Abstract :
We classify and develop methods of generating a broad family of perfect reconstruction (PR), two-band subband coding schemes using linear phase (unstable) IIR filters. Subject to the condition that all four of the analysis and synthesis filter transfer functions have identical denominators, and some other mild technical restrictions, we show how to generate a large family of such subband coding schemes and associated scaling functions and smooth wavelets
