  • Abstract
This paper describes a different approach which has been used to easily visualize the harmonic current components generated by multi-converter systems such as those arrangements used in large electrochemical industries. These configurations are normally established by using a large number of 6-pulse converters fed by transformers with suitable phase shifts. The developed method is based on a steady-state frequency-domain analysis of the non-sinusoidal currents drawn by each 6-pulse converter by considering each harmonic current component as a vector appropriately displaced due to the transformer phase-shift. This new approach is quite useful in visualizing the cancelation of the characteristic harmonic current components are cancelled and, also, how the residual (non-characteristic) harmonics current components will emmerge in multi-converter systems.
