A Study on the Mechanisms of Policy-Based Grid Authorization

Grid security is a key issue in Grid computing and often considered one of the most challenging aspects, which consequently attracts current research to the grid authorization, an essential part of grid security. In this paper, we briefly describe the drawbacks of the ordinary grid authorization system in complex grid environments and perform a detailed analysis on several latest grid authorization mechanisms in terms of structure, policy, engines features and related applications. Finally we present an example concerning how a policy-based authorization mechanism is able to be easily integrated into grid security infrastructure (GSI).
