  • Abstract
A time-domain analysis of sigma-delta modulation with linear filter decoding has been provided. The decoding operation of the 1-b output from a sigma-delta modulator can always be decomposed, and the final output of the decoding filter is the sum of signal term s H and noise term nH. The exact form of sH and nH has been derived. Two typical sinc and since2 digital decoding filters are studied. The only condition imposed on the input xn is that xn belongs to [-b,b], to avoid overloading the sigma-delta modulator. The results apply even to the case when the signal is not oversampled
