Abstract :
This paper studies an implementation of space diversity reception. The diversity scheme analysed is the optimum combining. The combiner is optimum in the sense that it maximizes the signal-to-interference-plus-noise power ratio at the output of the antenna array. The novelty of this approach is that it uses a blind adaptive combiner. Therefore, no training sequences are used for updating the antenna gains. The proposed algorithm is based on a cost function which is derived from the Nakagami fading index. The presented combiner is most suitable for operating under slow Nakagami-Rice fading conditions in frequency selective channels
