  • Abstract
    A special transverse flux (TF) linear induction motor (LIM) with salient poles and nonferromagnetic secondary in shape of a boat has been discussed. The secondary is suspended, propelled and stabilized by the electromagnetic field. Equations of 2D distribution of the electromagnetic field and force equations have been derived. A small-scale prototype has been built and tested. The electrodynamic suspensions force obtained from analytical calculations has been compared with measurements. The obtained results have been critically discussed.
