Abstract :
A method is suggested for implementing finite impulse response (FIR) digital filters where both the input signal and the impulse response are encoded using sigma-delta modulation. This filter structure can be built using simple hardware and hence can lead to efficient implementations. The error spectrum due to the encoding/decoding processes in the filter structure is derived. The implementation issues for this filter structure are also discussed
