Abstract :
This paper researched the full bridge rectifier generating mode (FBRG) of a 30/20-pole hybrid excitation doubly salient machine (HEDSM) with tangential permanent magnets. The no-load characteristic of the 30/20-pole hybrid excitation doubly salient generator (HEDSG) was obtained based on the finite element simulation. And the experimental no-load voltage waveforms were obtained. The good air-gap flux regulation ability is verified. Then, the output voltage waveforms under different loads with FBRG mode were obtained from the simulation and experiments. The external characteristic of the FBRG mode with the HEDSG was induced. The influence of the loading current on the output voltage was analyzed. The main reason is that the loading current influences the flux waveforms significantly. The field current regulation function for the output voltage of the FBRG mode of the HEDSG was concluded. The experiment result also shows the HEDSG has good ability of limiting short circuit current by asserting the negative field current. The DC filter capacitor is helpful to smooth the DC voltage. Therefore, the HEDSM with FBRG is suitable for running as a DC generator which can be used in wind energy conversion systems or independent power systems.
