Abstract
A high-performance parallel signal processing system for use in a real-time environment is described. The system includes analog input and output conditioners and data converters, digital signal processing (DSP) elements, and a system control computer. Expanding requirements and advances in DSP technology have resulted in the evolution of several generations of the system, each more powerful than the previous one. The hallmark of the newest system is an ensemble of DSP boards, each containing eight AT&T DSP32C processors. Custom architectures and algorithms were developed to allow the DSP chips to execute filters with more taps per second than processor cycles
