Abstract :
Comparative study of performance for different type of electric machines has taken place in face of the growing demand seeking maximum possible efficiency for electromechanical converters. For this, switched reluctance machines have proven to be strongly competitive in applications that deal with variable speeds. Comparisons between these machines and the already established induction machines are available in the literature, but comparative appraisal on different configurations of switched reluctance machines are not as widespread. This paper presents a comparative study of two Switched Reluctance Machines: a single phase (6×6) and three phase (6×4). Aspects of construction, driving and efficiency are discussed in order to find advantages and disadvantages to each of these machines.
