Abstract :
This paper looks at one system integrator´s experiences of VXIbus ATS design over the past decade. A number of specific successful ATS implementations, for factory and depot, fixed installation and deployable, are examined. The evolution of the overall ATS designs detailing influencing factors, differences, and common aspects are highlighted. The benefits, to the through life support of ATSs, of a common underlying architecture (CUA) are explored. The application of a CUA into different custom test solutions with widely different requirements and the implications for future trends are presented
