Abstract
An all-serial coding architecture for ultrafast optical CDMA (code-division multiple-access), particularly suitable for waveguide and free-space operations, is studied. Performance comparison of the prime, 2n, and modified 2n encoders/decoders in terms of normalized delay and ideal power loss reveals that the modified 2n encoders/decoders perform the best. A 100 Mb/s optical CDMA experiment in free space using 100-fs laser pulses has been performed
