Abstract :
Phoslock, a novel modified bentonite, was developed by CSIRO. With the innovative principle both on Soluble Phosphate (SP) removal and sediment capping, Phoslock has great efficiency in SP removal, normally 95%, and effective capacity to sediment capping of the bottom slurry for avoiding the nutrient release. From the applications in Australia, China and South Africa, Phoslock demonstrated exciting result on eutrophic water purification. With the treatment by Phoslock, the eutrophic water could be transferred to good water quality with variously healthy aquatic planting growing. Phoslock could eventually purify the eutrophic water, in hence, it was an effective way on water eutrophication prevention.
