Abstract

Describes the architecture and several key aspects of FIODBS (Fudan Interoperable Object Database System), which has been developed by the authors´ university. This paper first presents a common object model, which provides basic object-oriented (OO) features for object identifiers (OID), attributes, methods, inheritance, etc. Then three main interface components of FIODBS are given, where FToolsuite, IOQL (Interoperable Object Query Language) and the C++ API are used to manipulate data from multiple data sources, after which the buffer management and schema translation issues are discussed
