Abstract :
A procedure that can be followed in the development of software routines for automating some electromagnetic interference (EMI) tests is presented. Some of the basic planning techniques that should be utilized in the development of such software packages are discussed. As an example, the planning process that is undertaken in the development of a small section of an EMI test package, for the categorization of signals into broadband and narrowband spectral components, is illustrated. The testing and checking of such routines to determine whether they perform the task for which they were designed is discussed
