Abstract :
Precise temperature measurement and control has become an integral part of modern industry. The most common choice for accurate temperature measurements is to use Resistive Temperature Detectors (RTDs) which cover almost any industrial demands. Initial calibration and repeated recalibration may be required to provide desired accuracy of temperature measurements. The higher accuracy of a thermometer the more expensive calibration technique is demanded. However, for some industrial-grade RTDs it is possible to perform a simplified calibration technique because of the narrow temperature ranges they are used over. It is also essential that the calibration technique should draw less operator attention and optimize calibration time. In this paper a versatile semiautomatic method of calibrating industrial RTDs is presented.
