Abstract :
The goal of this paper is to develop a hardware realization of growth hormone (GH) secretion mechanism based on a biomathematical nonlinear delay differential equation theoretical model. Behavioral modeling of the mechanism is developed with the aid of hardware description language (HDL) simulator. We have simulated the antagonistic and stimulatory interaction of growth hormone, growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH) and somatotropin release inhibiting factor (SRIF). The simulation is synthesized using computer aided design (CAD) tools and downloaded into a combinational complex programmable logic device (CPLD)/field programmable grid array (FPGA) Xilinx XSA-50 microchip. The microchip sequentially outputs the decimal equivalents of the respective hormones. The chip is tested by comparing its output with that of the simulation. Our results show that the outputs of the chip and the simulator are identical.
