Abstract :
The fabrication methods of planar inductors for switching mode power supplies are studied. Initially, the advantages and disadvantages of such devices are introduced. The magnetic materials used in the devices (such as ferrites) and the preparation work of ferrite substrates, winding materials and insulation considerations are also detailed. Designs of planar inductors (which should be optimized with respect to loss) and design issues which relate to winding geometry, electrical design and thermal design are given in conclusion
