Abstract :
In this paper, a new band-notched microstrip-fed planar monopole Ultra wideband (UWB) antenna is proposed in which band-notched characteristics are realized by a rear C-shaped ring resonator. Exponential shape of lower edges of patch and upper edges of ground plane are investigated which provide an excellent impedance bandwidth over the entire UWB band, exclusive of the notched band. Measurements indicate that antenna with omni-directional pattern operates in the band from 2.25-10.2 GHz and has band-rejected characteristics in 5.16-5.85 GHz which covers Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) band.
