Abstract
A system is under development for remote data collection, signal conditioning and transmission to a shore station, for applications initially in lakes and reservoirs up to 10 km2. The system has been designed around an untethered model submarine VECTOR which is controlled via a surface radio link, position-fixed by directional laser range-finder, and which measures parameters to be multiplexed and transmitted in real-time to a shore station. The paper describes progress to date on the total system including a status report on the vehicle VECTOR-
