Abstract :
This paper examines several aspects of the implementation of side scan sonar technology on autonomous submersibles. The topic discusses many of the design tradeoffs associated with installing side scan sonar on a vehicle. This includes a discussion of data collection and storage techniques as well as the operational constraints imposed on a vehicle for accurate side scan sonar data collection.
