  • Abstract
Mesh FSO networks combined with WDM technology, carry an aggregate data rate of many Gbps. However, a large percentage of the enterprise data in the traffic is sensitive; thus, FSO links become a formidable target for eavesdropping. In order to maintain the proper level of data integrity and confidentiality, the vulnerabilities of mesh FSO communication links need to be understood and to develop an effective link security strategy and a security mechanism, which in addition to end-to-end cryptography assure intrusion-free operation and data security. In this paper we examine the security vulnerabilities of WDM mesh FSO links and describe how the link security using dynamically reconfigurable chaotic functions is enhanced.
