Abstract
The accuracy of forest inventory by compartments using radar-derived stand profiles is investigated by applying multivariate statistical methods. The radar-derived stand profiles were produced by a helicopter-borne ranging scatterometer. The following stand characteristics are evaluated using radar data: mean height, stem volume per hectare, basal area per hectare, development class, land class, bog type and fertility class. The accuracy of the method is compared with accuracies of other existing remote sensing methods
