Abstract
In order to dimension a power-factor correction circuit (PFC) and select suited components it is necessary to know the corresponding current waveforms as well as their rms and average values. As a consequence this paper shows a method to simulate and calculate these currents both in every switching cycle and over a mains half cycle. The predominant advantages of the presented method are firstly the short calculation time and secondly its stability (avoidance of unrealistic results-e.g. oscillations). The method is demonstrated in case of a boost-converter as power-factor corrector
