Abstract
This paper presents the investigations on the minimization of the DC link capacitance in AC-DC-AC converters for induction motor (IM) drives. The major focus is the impact of the linearized model deviations from the real system on the minimization of the DC link capacitor. Different input-output power control schemes were applied to the AC-DC-AC converter. The impact of estimation errors, parameter mismatches and distorted grid voltages on the DC link voltage and the system stability were investigated. Simulation results are verified by experimental results obtained from a 15 kVA induction motor drive with a DC link capacitance of only 80 muF
