Abstract
A coupled land-surface hydrological model for water and an energy balance, canopy radiative transfer model to account for vegetation interaction and an atmospheric attenuation model for computing atmospheric contributions is used to simulate microwave brightness temperatures at 19 and 37 GHz frequencies. The sensitivity of the simulated brightness temperatures with respect to soil moisture and leaf area index is investigated
